The Overnighters was easily my favorite documentary of the decade. I love how the director (Jesse Moss) got out of the way and let the story unfold, he just took his camera to an oil boom town in North Dakota figuring there’d be a story to tell. It was not presented in a biased way we do not so much as even hear him asking questions. We just get to see what happens in a small town offering big opportunities to people on their last chance.
