Actors who did great jobs at playing poorly written characters

Chiwetel Ejiofor in 2012His character is a scientist whose arc is realizing that boats should be so overcrowded with people that there's no room to do anything as long as everyone is saved. While that sounds charitable and nice, you can see where the logic fails when you stop and think about it.But Chiwetel still gives the same amount of class and seriousness to the role as he would any serious movie you'd usually find him in. He's still acting his ass off in a Roland Emmerich movie of all things!And he didn't even have to because most of the cast, all of whom are talented, either phones it in (John Cusack, Danny Glover, Amanda Peet, Tom McCarthy, Thandie Newton) or chews up the scenery (Woody Harrelson).
