This movie was so much damn fun, can't believe I had never seen it before! It was like someone took John Wick, Mad Max, and 1970's New York and just blended it into a movie.John Wick with all of the slick world building and the way the gangs operated. There was just a mutual understanding of everyone's turf, and the rules of the game. The scenes with the black radio woman using coded language to spread a message seems to have directly inspired John Wick.Mad Max because of the way the movie is incredibly stylized, that is about the journey first, and dialogue second. The concept is simple good guys are getting chased by bad guys and they need to get from point A to point B. There is also an emphasis on costume design and it has so many different factions who engage with the main group. Very similar to Fury Road in that regard. Finally, I love how in this movie the city of New York is as much a character of the film as anyone. While the movie is unrealistic of its portrayal of gangs, it does feel like the movie is a total screenshot of 1970's New York. The way they explore so many parts of the city and the seedy and gritty vibe that NYC has during that time is perfectly captured. The only thing that has aged poorly is the actual action sequences, but if you like stylish, fun, adventure/thriller/action movies, this is the movie for you. Also if you know of any movies that capture the feel and look of a city like this movie does, let me know! via /r/movies http://bit.ly/2TDsoZt
